Siemens - CC75Siemens CC75
The Siemens CC75 is one of two "stripped down" handsets aimed at people who are primarily interested in making voice calls than fiddling around with gadgets. To this end, Siemens have designed the CC75 to be a very slim phone that will fit into a small pocket.
The trouble is this: the CC75 is very much a one trick pony - it's slim (at just 12.6 mm thick) but that really is about it. As with several other recent Siemens handsets, the CC75 shares the pretty awful square design, making the handset look dull. And although it's a simple phone, it lacks Bluetooth which rules it out as a business phone.
What the Siemens CC75 does have is a 128x160 pixel TFT display in 65,000 colours, GPRS, polyphonics and PIM applications plus infra-red, USB and serial connectivity and that's about it.
This phone reminds us of the Panasonic X200 a little, which was a similar slimline device. The X200 made virtually zero market impact.. and it looked a lot nice that the Siemens CC75. We are not at all convinced that there is any real market for slim but basic handsets like this one.
Overall, the size is 111x44x12.6mm and the CC75 weighs 80 grams. Talktime is 3.5 hours with up to 11 days standby time. The CC75 is expected to be available sometime in the Autumn of 2005.
