Review Siemens C35I
This phone on first appearances seems quite complicated and confusing. On the other hand it is very small and thin, so I guess each one out ways each other. I brought mine on Virgin Mobiles, and although I unlocked it almost straight away Virgin offered a wide range of facilities including very good internet services. The C35I is the only one in C35 range that has games and vibrating alert, which as far as a standard phone goes is very good. Vibration normally only comes with the more expensive phones, and its nice to see that finally some companies are starting to offer it in the lower price bracket. Although the C35 has now been overtaken by its Siemens brother, the C45 it is a very feasible option for the cheaper buyers. You can get it in the V. Shop when requested and it costs a measly £70, which when compared to £130 which you can expect to pay for a Nokia 3310, it shows how it is great value to money. The back casing however is a bit of a fiddle and breakage’s would be a common problem if not looked after properly. The buttons take some time getting used to, but after a while you soon get the hang of it.
The advantage of this phone is the shortcut buttons, and separate phone books. You can have a standard phone book, which could contain all your friends and family, then you can have a V.I.P phonebook in which your clients and important phone numbers can be stored, this can be accessed as easily as then normal phone book and is a quicker way of ringing someone important. Another fancy touch for the C35I is the games, they may not be a popular as ‘snake’ but at least they can entertain you for more than ten minutes. My personal favourite is the game Minesweeper, and then Way-out, both computer games adapted brilliantly for the mobile. The screen is very clear, easy to understand, and the shortcut keys for ‘Keylock’ and ‘Silent’ are a lot simpler than other phones I have had in the past. I think the overall quality of the phone is above average and the complex key set-up is the only flaw. The buttons are very easy to use and the C35 even has predictive text messaging which means all in all it doesn’t take long to contact someone.
I changed from Virgin shortly after buying the phone, mainly to join a service called ‘Genie’ which provides free texting and free internet for only ten pounds a month. The thing that makes this service unique is that this isn’t a pay monthly sign-up, you can stop using your phone whenever you want, and all it takes to start up again is a quick minute call to Bt Cellnet. The £10 pound flat rate few means you can have up to 300 text messages free, then after that each text only cost 10p. The free internet is unlimited, to a certain extent, which means you cant stay online for more than 24 hours a time without disconnecting at least once. Which I think you find is quite reasonable. The company ‘Genie’ is mostly online based and although you may think you will spend endless hours trying to contact them, a recent ‘Watchdog’ survey showed that they responded in under three minutes.
Now onto the actual company Siemens itself. Well it seems pretty flawless. My back casing snapped and they replaced it free, admitting that it was a bit of a fiddle. My screen went blank after a accident involving cars, and the company replaced the faulty parts free of charge and wished me a quick recovery. Its this type of service that you would expect from a company, but these days not many companies would offer such a personal service that I must say I was very pleased with. I understand that some people may read this a get very fed up either because their phone was faulty or the service was awful. So I would like to say that I wish not to offend when I say this phone is very good and I give it 4/5
I haven’t given top marks due to the fact that the controls are a bit confusing at the start and the back casing did break due to bad designing, but in all fairness Siemens did admit this and apologise which I cant say many other companies have been renounced for.
