Sharp - TM100Sharp's TM100 for T-Mobile
Sharp has been making inroads in the GSM market lately through its popular line of GX phones. Their biggest advantage has been high technology and the support of a large mobile network such as Vodafone. This has worked well for both parties. Sharp is now looking to duplicate its success with Vodafone by making the new TM100 for T-Mobile, one of the largest mobile networks in the world.
The TM100 is very similar to the GX-20 in specifications, but does have a few new tricks up its sleeve. Sharp has changed the form factor to a slider, which is becoming increasingly popular nowadays. The TM100 also has a slick new look very reminiscent of the Sony Ericsson T610, right down to the Piano Black coating on the outside of the phone. While the original GX-20 had a 65K TFT display (and was only capable of 262K color in some versions by using a special image dithering method) the TM100 features a "real" 262K QVGA screen, as seen in the GX-30.
Sharp has always been very strong in imaging, and the GX-20 still holds the title for the best VGA camera we've seen in a phone. This same camera module has been integrated into the TM100 giving it special functionalities like multi-shot and macro mode. Video recordings of up to 10 seconds are also available, and users have 6MB (correction from 2.5MB) of internal storage memory to store all of their data.
Like the GX-20, the TM100 is also tri-band, has fast Class 10 GPRS, Java game support, and 40 chord polyphonics.
All up, the TM100 looks like another impressive phone from Sharp. Although it is missing some obvious features such as Bluetooth and a megapixel camera, it has a reasonably high end specs list and is perfect for the casual camera phone user.Specifications for the Sharp TM100
