Sendo - X2
Sendo Launches The X2

Earlier this week British mobile manufacturer Sendo unveiled their X2 to the 3GSM show in Cannes, France. The X2 is the successor to the Sendo X, the much hyped Series 60 based phone that Sendo developed after they had a falling out with Microsoft.

Sendo is positioning the X2 as a music phone, with dedicated music control buttons, and has given it support for not only the MP3 file format, but also the AAC and AAC+ file formats. Sendo claims that they have made using the X2 for music as painless as possible. They claim that one needs merely to turn on the handset and to press the play button to start the music.

To support the demands of the music player, as well as its 1.3 megapixel camera, the Sendo X2 has a miniSD card slot that can support capacities as large as 1GB in size. That's pretty respectable for a music player, as even Apple's own iPod Shuffle maxes out at 1GB in capacity.

Other highlights include the large 2.2" TFT display that is capable of showing 64k colors, and the speaker independent voice recognition system that can be used to quickly access phone contacts without any prior training.

Like the Sendo X before it, the X2 is a triband GSM device that supports the 900/1800/1900Mhz bands and runs the Symbian OS with a Nokia Series 60 UI on top. Sendo hopes to have the X2 on retailer shelves this summer.
