Nokia - 6270Nokia Launches 6270 Slider Music/Cameraphone
One of the seven (yes, seven!) Nokia handsets launched today, the 6270 is being touted as offering megapixel quality imagery as well as a wide range of musical options.
One of four of today's handsets to do so, the Nokia 6270 favours the sliding form factor, however this time around Nokia has curved the bottom of the screen section. As a result, when the phone is closed (and the keyboard is hidden) a small lip is left over which, in turn, is shown as being an ideal place to hold the phone when using it to take pictures. It's an interesting addition to the sliding form factor and could well make a difference in the comfort stakes when using the phone to take pictures.
Two megapixel images aren't known for taking up small amounts of memory, and as such, Nokia has included a 128MB mini SD card in the box, meaning that users should be able to carry around a reasonable number of snapshots before printing, which can be arranged directly via USB cable (providing you have a compatible printer). Pictures can also be transferred to other devices via Bluetooth, a data cable, or a wide range of messaging options including MMS and Email. The Email client on the 6270 also supports some attachments, although not as many as the 6280, providing only support for JPEG, 3GPP and MP3.
Meanwhile, MP3's also play a large part in the 6270's music support. In addition to MP3 files, the included music player also supports the AAC and M4A formats, while the FM radio (complete with Visual Radio client) provides music fans with something to cheer about, as will the stereo speakers with their 3D sound effect support.
Nokia expects the 6270 to hit streets around the world (as befits a quadband handset) in Q4 2005 and should set you back around 300 EUR before subsidies or taxes.
