Nokia 1101. Live pictures
A low-end Nokia 1101 is a slightly renewed version of Nokia 1100. As compared to the previous model, the appearance has undergone no changes, so you won't notice any difference having put the devices together.
The dimensions are small - 106x46x20, and the weight forms 86 grams. The handset lies well in a hand and may be carried in a trousers pocket or in a shirt with equal comfort. Although the weight is felt. The quality of assembly and plastic is very high, making no troubles. Both front and back panels are removable. Changing the panels makes no problems.
A charger and headset connectors are on the bottom end. The top edge holds a lamp activated from the standby mode by pressing "C", double pressure turns its constant work on. Also it may be switched from the menu. Its power is rather low, although is may be useful sometimes. Strap holes are placed on both sides of the top edge. Both right and left sides are ribbed thus preventing from the phone's sliding off hands.
The front of the device has a graphical monochrome display with the resolution of 96x65 pixels (27x21 mm). It holds up to 4 text lines. The backlighting is white in contrast to the previous model with its green one. Information is read a bit better from the screen of the 1101 due to the changed backlighting. No problems with data perception are observed in the sun.
Like the predecessor the keypad is of plastic, having removed the panels, you'll see the block is monolith. The keys joint very closely, but due to their appropriate size, working with the keypad makes no special problems. The characters on the 1101's keys are read better than in the 1100, due to the changed backlighting, although still not ideal. A navi block is hard to call comfortable in work. Scroll buttons are on the right edge, a Navi button to confirm an action is in the center. You'll have to get used to this disposition. Besides, there are no special call and end call buttons, which is uncomfortable.
Almost the whole back of the device is taken by a cover with a 850mAh Li-Ion battery (BL-5C) under it. According to the manufacturer, this battery provides about 300 hours of standby mode and up to 3 hours of talks. Under the condition of a Moscow MTS network the device worked for about 5 days with 30 minutes of talks and up to 30 minutes of using other functions. The battery is fully recharged in 3 hours.
Menu
Pressing a Navi button you get into the main menu. However the menu completely copies the previous ones. It is represented with pictures, and only one item is shown on the screen at once. Submenus are vertical lists. Number navigation is at your disposal. Menu navigation rouses no problems, everything is plain and clear.
Phonebook. Up to 50 contacts may be stored in the phone's memory. A name and a number may be set for a contact. A search is implemented by letter. You can choose the display - a name and a number at once or only a name (then three names are shown on the screen). Contacts from the internal memory and a SIM-card one are shown together. You can assign a personal call melody to a contact. Fast dialing for about 9 numbers is present.
Messages. Up to 50 messages may be stored in the phone's memory. Several text templates are present. It supports Nokia Smart Messaging, and thus there are 8 preinstalled images, also you can add a smile to your message. Besides, there is a chat function and group SMS. Totally 6 SMS lists are provided, each can contain up to 10 contacts.
There is T9 function for both English and Russian.
Call list. Lists of received, dialed and missed calls with time, date, and duration are kept here. Each list contains up to 20 numbers.
Sound. Select a melody and a type of a call signal.
Profiles. Everything on profile adjustment.
Settings. Allows setting date and time, turning an automatic key lock on, choose the phone menu language.
Alarm clock. There is only one alarm clock that may be set once or repeating on certain days from a list. It works even if the device is off.
Memos. Small text reminders with set date and time for alarm are created from here.
Extra. Here is a plain calculator, a unit converter, a stopwatch, a countdown timer and a melody editor. Besides, you can select an animated picture for a screen saver and a time period for it to snap into action from here.
Games. Generally, there are 2 games; they are Snake II (widely known snake) and a Space Impact+ (arcade).
WAP. The device provides with an integrated WAP browser version 1.1, which is another one difference from the predecessor. However, the need in it seems dubious in the absence of GPRS.
Impressions
The connection quality is on a certain level, with no cavils. The call signal is plain, not polyphonic, with the volume enough in any conditions. The vibra is a bit more powerful than average.
The main difference of the 1101 from its predecessor, Nokia 1100, is a better backlighting, and all the rest is equal. There are enough functions for an undemanding user, and a battery life will suit many. The only thing to get used to is the absence of call answer and end buttons and the navi buttons placed on the edge.
The handset is already sold for about 65 USD, which is 5 USD higher than for Nokia 1100. |
