Advantages it has a long battery life
Disadvantages it is too big
Dislikes for NECn221 are:it has a superb sound mode;navigation is very easy;it has a wonderful colour display;it has a sustainable battery life;it has a wonder ful key set up even it can be easily used by an illiterate;the dispaly of battery light when the battery is being charged is a good technologicalbuilt up;the diplay of light at the back of the phonewhenthere is an incoming call is astounding;the cover for its ear piece is very good. However it is not portable.
Summary: i n summary,NEC should beadvised to reduce the size of their phones.
The N 22 I is a folder type phone thus has two displays. The external display is an LCD with a user controlled backlight. The user can select any color from the 12 available at his disposal. The external display is monochrome however the internal primary display is in color with 4096 colors. The resolution of the internal display is 120 x 60 pixels thus has a capacity to display 8 lines of text and one line of service icons. The external display can only show one line of text and one line of icons with a resolution of 120 x 30 pixels. The phone is made to work on the European / Asian GSM networks i.e. at GSM 900 & 1800. The phone is powered by a Li-Ion 800 mAh battery which gives a standby time of 200 hours and a talk time of 3-4 hours. The N 22 I has a decently sized phonebook having a capacity up to 500 contacts. Each contact has multiple numbers storage with 5 different numbers as well as e-mail address.
The N 22 is from NEC and has also been equipped with i-mode connectivity allowing internet access as well as having an e-mail client. Wireless Internet is based on the WAP 1.2.1 version. For high speed data transfers, the GPRS technology has also been included. The phone book also allows the user to associate photos (20 photos maximum) so that these may be displayed in place of the caller ID. A personal organizer, kind of like a calendar is also present in the phone. A maximum of 500 events can be stored, however a useful function since it keeps tracks of all important events. The personalizable features of the N 22i are also many. One can start with the changeable cover panels and go on with the various ring tones that can be set according to the users choice. There are 13 tones already preset with space for 10 other customizable ones. Polyphonic tones are also supported. The polyphonic tones are 40 chord ones. The phone however does not have any IR port or USB port allowing it to communicate with other devices. Consequently the user is left with little option other then to download the ringtones, wallpapers, screensavers etc form the internet. Also the N 22 I does not support Java based applications, another big mistake since not only is this function in vogue; it is also practically useful one.
SMS freaks need not worry, the N 22 I looks after their needs satisfactorily. The phone has a T9 predictive text input technology, as also concatenated message support. Text templates allow the user to simply create and save the most common replies and send them without typing each time. Animated pictures as well as ringtones can be received as also sent to other compatible phones. Standard functions such as calculator, currency converter, alarm clock have all been included. A to-do list allows the user to remember all his chores, thus the N 22 does have good organizing features. Since Java support is absent, the user is dependent on the manufacturer provided applications. There are 5 games present - Belt, Poker, Puzzle, Thief, UFO. Voice based functions such as voice memo allows quick storage of handy notes, number without writing them down thus having them handy when required rather then launching a hunt for where exactly you managed to scribble down the information.
The N 22 I is a good phone with a standard list of features. Though there are phones out there which would make the N 22 eat dust, it holds its own among them and is good enough for one who feels he is satisfied by these many functions and does not require more. |
