Motorola - E1070Motorola E1070 Confirmed
As we said before, this is a 3G clamshell phone with video calling, Bluetooth, a multimedia player, web browser, email client and expandable memory on TransFlash/microSD cards.
We thought then that this was most likely a clamshell variant of the as-yet-unreleased Motorola E1060, and we can now confirm that this definitely seems to be the case as the E1070 also sports a 240x320 pixel display.
Slated for release in Q4 2005, Motorola say that the E1070 will be available through Orange, O2, TIM, Telefonica and other operators. There's no definite news about the release of the similar E1060 though.
The E1070 pretty much ticks all the boxes for a decent 3G phone except for the 1.3 megapixel camera (2 megapixel is pretty much the standard for new phones now, we feel), but it does seem to be unexciting in terms of design and functionality. It doesn't appear to be a bad phone - but remember it is just a clamshell version of the E1060 which was first announced more than 8 months ago, and yet the E1060 at least manages to look a little bit interesting. This definitely isn't as sexy as the RAZR V3x or some of the other upcoming phones in Motorola's range, but it does seem to be a practical and versatile 3G device.
