Motorola - A732Motorola's A732 Let's Your Fingers Do The Talking
One of three Linux-based handsets announced by Motorola yesterday, the Motorola A732 is a handset with a twist.
The Motorola A732 is a very attractive looking slider handset, with a sleek silver body and a large color display. What makes this handset stand apart from the pack is its touch sensitive keypad. This keypad allows the user to draw characters with his or her finger, and have the text placed into a text message with what Motorola calls finger-writing recognition. This system utilizes a predictive text engine to learn each user's writing style, and supports basic gesture commands for editing text and switching between languages. The system will be most useful for those entering Chinese characters, which have traditionally been difficult to input using the standard triple-tap system. How effective the system will be for people with larger fingers is yet to be seen.
You might recall that we covered a similar Motorola handset in the past, the A668.
Otherwise, the A732 is a triband GSM device with built-in Bluetooth support, a video capable VGA camera, and a TransFlash/microSD memory card slot. MP3 files that are stored on the phone's internal memory or on a memory card can be played with the A732's media player. There is also a new text-to-speech function for having your text messages read to you out loud. |
