Ericsson - T10s
Ericsson T10s

Advantages Compact, Durable, Security - flip cover
Disadvantages Poor battery quality, Poor battery management
Many of the reviews here mention the problem of battery life of the T10.

We require no gimmicks from a mobile, It needs to be compact, sturdy durable and long battery life.

We were extremely disappointed with the battery life of the two Ericsson T10s that my partner and I have essentially for emergency use.

When new the standby period was safely two/three days if they were turned off overnight.

After about a year the standby period went down to less than a day we purchased new batteries.

Eventually one new battery refused to charge and in desperation we warmed it over the boiler and got it back into service again.

Between the two phones we now have four batteries and have now found that

a) removing the batteries at night
b) putting the mobile on charge when it is off (not on standby)

has now restored the batteries to a civilised standby life.

A friend who had a similar problem on a T10s has also found removing the battery at night has given it a new lease of life.

Any ideas why this removal of batteries works? Does it apply to other mobiles too that use NiMH batteries? We have found that even when the phone is switched off it can lose part of the battery charge overnight. Does this suggest something is generally wrong with the charge control rather than the batteries?

In contrast a battery that is removed from the telephone keeps its full charge for ages. We try to keep an unused fully charged battery available.

We are wondering too if the signal strength of the mobile service provider also affects the amount of battery power you are using.

The mobile was purchased as part of a Tesco/One2One Pay as You Go package over 18 months ago and cost about £75

We found that One2One altered the tariff somewhat unfairly and we also considered their prices for calls abroad was too expensive. We transferred the One2One number to Virgin Net and this provides us with a cheaper service.

We like the flip cover that protects the keypad and means the mobile can carried safetly with no fear of inadvertent use.

Advantages Good signal, Good sound, Reliable
Disadvantages Blocky, Big
Don't get me wrong - I slagged down the T28s on dooyoo, and replaced it with an older model, the T10s.

It's blocky, not particularly good looking, not as functional. It's everything the T28s isn't, in fact. But...

it picks up a signal just about anywhere, the voice quality is good, and I beg to differ with other dooyoo comments. This thig has stamina. It goes on and on. I charge it once a week at most, and use it sparingly.

It's never gonw wrong, and I don't feel like I'm going to break it if I drop it. The flip panel is reliable and tough. It's all-round sturdy.

So if you want an older model, cheap phone that will last, I'd say the T10s has it.
