Ericsson - GA 628Ericsson GA 628
Advantages None
Disadvantages Heavy, Aerial, Battery time
I was the proud owner of a Nokia 3210 until 6 weeks ago when I had my phone stolen. Gone was the lovely shiny phone and its SIM card.
Being a VODAPHONE customer, I thought it would be easy to get back on the air.
I was wrong.
Firstly I ordered a new SIM. It turned up in a couple of days. I then tried to find an old phone to use it with.
I tried an actual Vodaphone phone that was being used as a pay as you go type. It would not work with my sim.
I tried my mates old Nokia 7110 that he used on the Orange Network.
Still no joy.
I then swapped the Vodaphone Pay as you go Phone with my fiance and got her Ericsson GA628 which was compatible! Hooray.
Thats where my celebration finished.
While the phone works, it is crap.
The stand by time on it is about 36 hourse without a call. Longer than that and it dies.
that is very poor compared to modern phones but I suppose it is quite old now.
The display is very small too. No way you could use this as a WAP phone. When sending SMS, you only get to see one line of text so your message never really makes sense. Its always off screen.
There are no games on it.
There are in fact very limited options available on it.
You can text and make calls but that is it.
You cant change the display message, programme a ring tone or anything cool.
There are alternative ring tones on the phone but they are very limited and simple.
The signal Bars and Battery life meter show on screen at all times which is handy but they take up valuable viewing space on a very small screen.
The appearance of the phone is of a very blocky shaped phone that is heavy, clumsy and possesses no key lock. You can easily end up dialing people in your pocket without realising.
The aerial is about an inch long and very unsightly. It really could be hidden in the phone the way my Nokia was.
Its very difficult to hear people when having a conversation as its not very loud.
My opinion.....
Stay away from Ericsson phones, particularly this model.
