Design
The Alcatel OneTouch 835 is a compact clamshell phone. Measures 88 x 46 x 20 mm in size and weighing 88 grams, it is light and feels very slender despite its size.A secound 80 x 96 pixel, 256 STN display dominates the front cover, and although not the clearest external display we've seen it is still quite functional.The 16 bit - color display which is a little milky, dim and uneven, as well as having lower resolution than usual.The display resolution 128 x 160 pixel ideal for small and smart phone.
The left side of the unit holds a spacious volume rocker.There is nice LEDs which notify users of new messages, active network and missed calls. This is not common for all Alcatel handsets and is not necessary to pick up and activate the device to see whether any alerts are waiting.
Ergonomics
The OneTouch 835 is comfortable to hold and lies well in ones hand.Sporting a simple and user friendly menu in style with other recent Alcatel handsets.The plastic keypad has very limited key travel and jiggles independently of the phone, with the shrunken center keys for no apparent reason, make the phone harder to dial than necessary.And last,but not least, a five-way navigation buttons centered below the display.

Unfortunately, neither Memory Stick Duo format or any other method of memory expansion is supported by the OneTouch 835, meaning users find themselves drawn by the MP3 playback capabilities will also quickly - and repeatedly - drawn to their PC and USB cable for updating ones playlist.
Performance
Audio quality on the OneTouch 835 was crystal clear, and signal quality was good. The removable 780 mAh Li-ion battery is rated for 2 hours talk time or 200 hours standby, which is quite low given the battery's theoretical capacity. Charge time is about 117 minutes.
Availability
The Alcatel OneTouch 835 is now available throughout Europe in some language version.

Alcatel's OneTouch 835 is yet another model in a range of phones from experienced users from Alcatel. A new compact design and a reduced sized battery - which avoids rendering a negative impact on battery life - ensures a thin and light phone which is ergonomically comfortable. |
