Alcatel - OT-C555Alcatel OTC555 Overview
Available in a choice of two of my favorite colors; black & white, the Alcatel One Touch 555 has a candybar design which despite being one of the oldest, is still a very popular one. At 80 grams and having equally petite dimensions; the 555 is easy to carry around. However while the phone has a camera (VGA standard) it has a mere 10 megabytes of internal memory in which the user must manage his data. The Alcatel OT 555 does not have any card slot for expanding the memory. The phone will have dual speakers which allow "3D sound" or so as claimed by Alcatel. The feature list also makes mention of the handsets capability to play Mp3 files. Whether the phone will have a Mp3 player or will it just be limited to playing for ringtones remains to be seen. Besides Mp3, AAC format files and the ubiquitous Polyphonic tones (64 channels) are also present.
The features of the Alcatel One Touch 555, are however not limited at just that. It even has support for the Push 2 Talk function which has become a much required one in recent times. At connectivity too the OT 555 rules. It allows the user to send and recieve SMS, EMS and MMS besides Email and even Instant Messaging. Wireless Net based on WAP and support for third party applications due to the presence of Java MIDP is also there.
Announced in the first quarter of 2005; the dual band GSM One touch 555 which will operate on GSM 900 and 1800 frequencies should be available by the third quarter of 2005.
